That's really what matters with these things! I don't know about awesome relationship advice, though. I guess it just all comes down to being honest with each other and finding things you enjoy doing together, and it sounds like you're doing a pretty good job of that so far!

I mean, some relationships don't work out because you're honest with each other. But better to find out you don't work well together when you're being yourselves, than to try to be someone you're not to force something to work, right?

And sometimes communicating is a lot harder than it should be, too. Sometimes you just forget, [ like he did for, months, that one time ] or there's something where you don't know if you want to say it, for whatever reason. It gets complicated!

It's easier to do than you'd think. Forget, that is. Sometimes something seems really important and you get so wrapped up in it you don't notice how much time is passing until it's too late.

It's easy to get like that, sometimes. I think when he does that the hard part will be balancing being patient and understanding with him versus knowing how and when to get him to stop doing it for his own good. Projects are important! But you're important too.

but i think it helps that i think the way he's so passionate about his alchemy and science is really charming? i think it's one of my favourite things about him

Yeah! He seems really smart and driven, and those are good things to be!

But as exciting as getting caught up in a project can be sometimes, it's important to to take care of yourself too, and know that people are waiting for you to come back down to Earth. And sometimes people like that need a reminder.

If you're there to help him with that, though, I'm sure he'll be fine! It sounds like you both care about each other a lot.

I'm not as smart as Varian, but I get really distracted really easily sometimes and it's caused problems before. Big ones. I'm trying to be better.

[ It's kind of too little too late, at least when it comes to Eurydice, but, well. ]

But it does help a lot to have people who can tell you to stop doing what you're doing and pay attention, and I have that here, and I'm glad it sounds like Varian does too.

[Fern is half expecting not to even get an answer.]

and hey, if you ever need another person to tell you to pay attention, i can do it for you too

Yes. Usually with composing something new, but sometimes trying to figure out what makes someone else's song work.

Thanks, though! I appreciate that. I guess if you notice you haven't seen me around my usual spots in a few days it might be a good idea to check up on me. I've been less bad about things since coming here, but it might still happen every now and then.
